id-sign logos
Effectively designed logos with visual impact create a positive lasting
impression. A successful logo helps you achieve your goals, a bad one
can undermine your efforts.
Successful logos are authentic
An authentic logo has three components: it symbolises what you do,
characterises particular attributes and is contemporary. Only by
understanding your business and its unique attributes can a designer
choose an appropriate symbol, apply a 'trustworthy' trait and make it
contemporary for your market. Its visual distinctiveness can be a
combination of any of these: name, letters, numbers, symbol, shape,
tagline, colour, particular typeface.
Case study: Chocolate Juju
This
client provides chocolate fountains for weddings, parties and corporate
events. They wanted a
distinctive logo with a fun element and fresh feel. Many chocolate
fountain companies on the internet use a chocolate brown as the base
colour for their branding.
I suggested a deep purple which is still chocolately, but not in a
Cadbury's way. The colour goes well with the fresh colours of the
dipping fruit supplied with chocolate fountains.
Reseach into suitable fonts and images is key to success. This font lent itself perfectly
to customisation by adding drips and a three-dimensional effect. I
found a photograph on iStock of a single strawberry sitting in a pool
of chocolate on a reflective surface, set against a cool contemporary
pale grey background, which provided the perfect fresh look for the business card
and website design.
Keep it consistent
Once you have your logo, tagline, fonts and colours, it is vital
that they are applied consistently to all your marketing, from printed
materials to website. Even the tone of your copy needs to be consistent
with your branding.
I will work collaboratively with you rather than in a directive way,
interpreting your ideas and ensuring that you are totally delighted
with the finished result.
